Top Ten Fourth of July Scores at the Nashville Farmers’ Market

The Nashville Farmers’ Market has everything you need for a farm-fresh Fourth of July celebration. This weekend our Farm Sheds are overflowing with summer fruits and vegetables, specials on locally raised meat, fresh milk , and more. Therefore, to make things easier for you, we’ve compiled a simple list of the top ten Fourth of July scores at the Nashville Farmers’ Market to make your shopping experience this holiday a breeze.

1)      Summer Berries. Impress your Fourth of July picnic guests with a Red, White, and Blueberry Pie. Blueberries and blackberries are available for such a short period, you shouldn’t miss your opportunity to make such a festive dessert. Flats are also available for freezing or making preserves.

2)      Peaches and Plums. Cobblers and crisps are a Fourth of July must, and Tennessee grown peaches and plums are filling our farm sheds. Find Pearson Farm Peaches here at The Peach Truck 7 days a week, and Tennessee peaches and red sugar plums at Hancock Family Farm stall this Saturday.

3)      Local Dairy Products. With all the fresh pies and cobblers you’ll be making this Fourth of July, you’ll need some homemade ice cream and whipped cream to accompany. JD Country Milk has the freshest dairy items made from pasture-raised dairy cows with no hormones of antibiotics. Find their milks, butters, yogurts, heavy creams, and buttermilks every Saturday morning at the Market.

4)      Summer Vegetables. Fresh squash for casseroles and summer cucumbers and tomatoes for salads are two summer sides perfect for Fourth of July picnics. Summer produce is at peak season and the Nashville Farmers’ Market is filled with local and regional produce 7 days a week!

5)      Fresh Herbs. There’s nothing that perks up a summer salad like fresh herbs. Get cilantro, basil, chives, and more from our hydroponic growers Smarter Gardens and KY Hydro Farm this Saturday.

6)      Fresh Peas, Beans, and Greens. Fourth of July is prime time for Southern staples like pots of greens, field peas, and green beans. Find fresh shelled peas and limas from Fisher’s Orchard this weekend, and greens with season meat at Plano Produce and Smiley’s Farm stalls.

7)      Fresh Breads and Baked Goods. Need an artisan loaf of bread for bruschetta or garlic toast? Grab freshly baked loaf from Village Bakery and Provisions or an already-made blueberry pie or peach cobbler at the Shrock’s market table this Saturday.

8)      Sweet Corn. There is nothing that says the Fourth of July like freshly harvested summer sweet corn. The Nashville Farmers’ Market has sweet corn 7 days a week. Grab a bushel for the grill, casseroles, salsas, or salads to make you Fourth of July a true summer celebration.

9)      Locally Raised Meats. Whether you’re grilling hamburgers, steaks, chicken, pork, or lamb, the Nashville Farmers’ Market has everything you need for your Fourth of July barbecue. Our market will host 4 local and regional meat farmers this Saturday to ensure your July 4th picnic has the most quality pasture-raised, naturally-raised, and grass-fed grilling experience you can get.

10)   Handmade Tobacco Stick Art. One-of-a-kind American Flag signs are available at our market to add pizzazz to your Fourth of July party. These signs are available at the White’s Family Farm booth and are handmade and painted by the White family themselves. They are made using authentic tobacco sticks that have a deep smoky aroma and a historical significance in Tennessee. Grab one or two for your Fourth of July celebration this weekend at the Nashville Farmers’ Market.
