The Peach Truck Brings First Freestone Peaches to NFM

Beginning in the latter half of June, The Peach Truck begins its yearly "Freestone Tour" through Tennessee and surrounding states, distributing precious peaches to smaller towns that typically miss out on the summer's most beloved fruit. Stephen and Jessica Rose have been transporting the golden orbs from the 130-year-old Pearson Farm in Fort Valley, Georgia since 2012, and their passion for the perfect peach has yet to wane throughout the past four successful and bustling years.

Freestones, the variety of peach with flesh that releases freely from the pit, are the darlings of summer stone fruit that are the easiest for canning, freezing or to be jellied or jammed. The Peach Truck's freestones' ceremonious arrival is awaited with much anticipation for the dedicated peach purist, making mid-June a mark on the calendar that is counted down to much like Christmas morning.

We at the Nashville Farmers' Market are overjoyed that our market is set to receive the very first arrival of the freestone peaches in Nashville on June 17th, 2016, for our Peach Jam Night Market. Stephen and Jessica Rose will be sponsoring the Peach Jam for the second year in a row, and we are so very thankful for choosing our market for their first freestone drop.

"The Nashville Farmers' Market is our only location we set up at 7 Days a week," Stephen shared. "Serving the community Downtown each day is a huge honor for us. When we heard about The Peach Jam, we just knew we had to be a part. Any chance to celebrate the South's favorite fruit is something we want to be a part of, and this is no different. We are setting up two different booths on Saturday to make sure we can serve everyone well! Can't wait to see you there."

Come grab the first brown bags of the summer's Georgia freestone peaches at our Night Market this Friday from 5pm to 9, and the following morning on June 18th for the main festival from 10am until 2pm.
